Antwain Easterling: Who???

I am not sure if anyone either remembers this story a few years ago or if anyone heard this story. Antwain Easterling, who at the time was a really good running back from Miami Northwestern High School, was arrested and charged with second-degree lewd and lascivious behavior of a minor, a felony in Florida, because he had consensual sex with a minor. This case made national news because a) he was 18 and the girl was 14, even though they went to the same school and b) because just days after his arrest, Easterling played in the high school chapionship game, carrying the ball 20 times for 157 yards. Easterling was a top 5 RB nationally and was heavily recuited. After the arrest, no one wanted to touch him except for Southern Miss. The fallout was tremendous from this incident. Both the principal of the school and the football coach both lost their jobs because of the decision to allow him to play and also because they failed to initially report the incident to authorities.
After completing a pretrial diversion trial, Easterling enrolled in Southern Miss. From reports around the program, Easterling was well on his way to a good college career before being kicked off the team after the dreaded “double super secret probation”. This makes the second time he has gotten in hot water since going to school in Hattiesburg.
It is not too late for him. It is obvious that he has talent on the football field. Someone needs to counsel him, before he makes another bad decision. He should not try to do his best R. Kelly impersonation. Just because Dave Chappelle gave us the “Piss On It” parody of R. Kelly and the remix to the parody, does not mean that Easterling should. I would hate to see him on the “Mean Machine” along with Michael Vick, Pacman Jones, and (insert Cincinnati Bengals player here)…
