Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns fights a member of the poultry industry…literally

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on April 10, 2009

For those brave souls who actually live in Detroit had the opportunity of a lifetime to witness one of the saddest spectacles ever conceived by mankind. A former boxing champion and prince of man placed the cities financial crisis on his shoulders & played tic-tac-toe against poultry for money. I hope you’re happy Detroit…I hope you’re proud.

Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns is the first ever quintuple and sextuple champion in history winning World titles at welterweight, super welter, middle, supermiddle, light heavy and cruiserweight. He is considered to be one of the greatest boxers of the modern era.

He has scored many memorable knockouts in his career, and is widely considered as one of the greatest knockout artists of all time.

Even after accomplishing all that the Hitman squared off against a fucking chicken in a game of tic-tac-toe at the Greektown casino in a two-round matchup of “Chick-Tac-Dough.”

DETROIT, April 8 /PRNewswire/ – Boxing legend Tommy ‘Hitman’ Hearns and ‘Ginger’ the Casino Chicken faced off on Tuesday, April 7 for the inaugural ‘Chicken Challenge’ of Greektown Casino-Hotel’s ‘Chick-Tac-Dough’ promotion. ‘Ginger’ went 0-1-1 (one loss, one tie) against ‘Hitman’ Hearns.

The promotion will run from April 11 to June 9, 2009, giving every Club Greektown cardholder one (1) free attempt to challenge the casino chicken to a game of tic-tac-toe every day from noon to 8 p.m. Players that are able to beat the chicken at tic-tac-toe will be awarded $100 in Bonus Play.”

Ginger The Chicken. Looks like it’s going to be Chinese for lunch today.

With sad promotions such as this one, it’s no wonder that the Greektown casino filed for bankruptcy. All this almost makes me want to weep for the future….the under card featured the Hulkster fighting a divorce lawyer.
