College Wrestling: Who Knew Wrestling Could Be So Violent?

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on March 23, 2009

Vodpod videos no longer available.

In case you were to busy watching basketball or picking dingle berries out of your neighbor’s ass, the NCAA Wrestling Championships was this past weekend. The Iowa Hawkeyes won the team title even though they didn’t have an individual champion in any weight class.

Iowa’s best hope of winning a personal was on the shoulders of junior Brent Metcalf who happened to be riding a 69-match winning streak however he was beaten in the final by N.C. State junior Darrion Caldwell. Caldwell decided to celebrate this victory by performing a backflip in which Metcalf shoved him to the ground while he was in midair. Vince McMahon used to put a lot more money into Wrestlemania.

Since when is fighting apart of a sport such as wrestling? What’s strange is that in the third period Caldwell had to take an injury timeout because his lower back was hurting. so I guess after some Mr. Miyagi treatment, he was cured to perform backflips. Metcalf has only lost 2 wrestling matches in his entire varsity life (he was 288-0 in high school and 71-1 in college before Sunday) with both losses coming to Caldwell-so he was understandably perturbed because if he kept his streak alive his next opponent was going to be Goldberg.

Oh, and in case you were wondering: Edinboro University’s Paul Donahoe, one of the former Nebraska wrestlers that were kicked off the team for posing nude in videos and photographs on an Internet p0rn site, beat a one-legged guy in the semi-final (seriously!).

Donahoe failed to win a championship due to a technical violation in double overtime. (He illegally clasped his hand behind his opponent’s head, and was docked for the winning points.) His coach should be fired for forgetting the ol “throw chalk in the ref’s eyes” move. It was his only loss of the season unless you count his loss of pride and self-worth.

All in all the video makes me wish there were more backflips in wrestling, or more wrestling/violence in gymnastics. I think it would make both sports more fun to watch.

Daughter of Florida assistant coach will make any police officer in Iowa sorry

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on February 17, 2009

Pick a team, bitch.

If there’s one thing in life I hate it would be spoiled whiney children. So basically I hate almost every kid of an athlete and/or coach. This also applies to anyone who feels “privileged” because who their family is.

Dan McCarney is the former failboat head football coach of the Iowa State Cyclones and current defensive line coach the University of Florida.

His firstborn Jillian, 21, seems to be a little aggressive…I say that because she was arrested on Saturday night for assaulting a police officer and keeping a disorderly house.

“Police say Jillian McCarney also told officers her father would fight them and threatened violence against them several times. According to the police report, McCarney asked the officer, “Do you know who my dad is? He is Dan McCarney.” Jillian McCarney told the officer she “guaranteed all her charges will be ‘dropped’ because her name is ‘McCarney’ and they have ‘a lot of money,'” according to police.”

Ha! If it was my child who said that I would contact the arresting officer and beg him to find more charges to level on her ass.

The charge of “Keeping a disorderly house,” in case you didn’t know, is refusing to turn down the music and telling your drunker than hell friends to go home. I suppose it’s better than “keeping a house of ill repute”

One of the great ironies in sports is the fact coaches portray and even embody an almost God-like ability to be the father of their team, but so many of them are total failures as fathers of their biological families who they abandoned long ago in order to pursue their career.

Dumb bitch. They’re campus cops, just show them your tits and shotgun a beer with them and you’ll stay out of the papers.

This radio announcer knows how to party

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on January 14, 2009

podolak

Meet Ed Podolak. He is a former Iowa Hawkeye quarterback and running back and a member of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Hall of Fame. Ed has been apart of the Iowa radio broadcast team since 1982.

When the Hawkeyes went to the Outback Bowl to literally ass-rape the South Carolina Gamecocks, Ed decided he was going to party like it was 1999 (Not bad for someone who is 62). As a result some photos of Ed mysteriously (as always) got taken and published on this little thing we refer to as the internet.

Iowa athletic director Gary Barta, was none to happy about this.

“I have had a chance to see them and I am deeply disappointed,” Barta said in a prepared statement. “The pictures do not represent the image and expectations of the University of Iowa We work hard to make sure our student-athletes, coaches and staff understand what we expect of them,” Barta said. “Clearly, we hold them to a high standard. It is important we hold everyone representing the Hawkeyes to a similar standard.

To make matters worse this isn’t the first time Podolak has had alcohol related issues.

“In 1997, Iowa City police charged Podolak with public intoxication and interference with official acts after campus police found him sleeping in the grass on the University of Iowa Pentacrest.

At the time of the arrest, a blood test found he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.23, nearly three times the level at which a person is considered intoxicated under current Iowa law.

Iowa officials said at the time of the 1997 incident that another arrest on similar charges could prompt them to dismiss Podolak from the radio broadcast. Podolak has been doing Hawkeye football broadcasts for more than 25 years.

“It was 11 years ago and I’ve made efforts to make sure that situation wouldn’t happen again,” Podolak said. “I am not sure what else I can say about that.”

Podolak declined to answer specific questions about the woman in the pictures.”

I don’t blame Podolak for not commenting on the woman…she’s uh…how should say this? Homely…yeah that sounds better than fat.

“I don’t want to do anything to damage the university because it is my heart and soul. The love I have for the university is very important to me,” Podolak said. “The proper procedure is for all of us to assess where we are at over the weekend.”

Since the pictures have been released Podolak has decided to “retire”.

College Football Week 7 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on October 12, 2008

Chaos in the polls and I love it!!!! Yesterday was definitely the best slate of games this whole season and of course the best slate to surprising upsets.

Who is #1? It’s question that will be answered later today in the coaches poll and will be argued by everyone in the country.

I wonder who is feeling the heat more Tommy Bowden or Phillip Fulmer. Of course Tennessee lost because they suck no matter how hard I cheer for them. The full write up on the game verses Georgia will be tomorrow after I painstakingly watch a tape of the game later today.

Toledo’s record against Michigan improved to 1-0 yesterday which was a shocker.

I’m sure Arkansas is tanking Auburn for firing their offensive coordinator. You can the “inside” story of the firing right here.

All eyes were definitely on Texas yesterday as they upended Oklahoma.

“I’m 40! I’m a man! & I just beat Missouri bitches!” says Mike Gundy AKA America’s coach.

Tim “TiVo the Teabag” Tebow can go back to circumcising kids now since Florida hands LSU an ugly loss. Hell Tennessee didn’t allow Florida to score that many points.

Penn St. makes an argument on why they should be considered #1. as they gave Wisconsin a second straight loss at Camp Randall.

The Texas Tech offense isn’t putting up the points it used to but manages to defeat Nebraska and avoid being upset.

USC rolled against a dead Arizona State team.

BYU won. Who cares?

What’s wrong with Ohio State’s offense? Sure they won but they only scored 16 at home.

I was one of the few people in my pick’em to pick Miss. State over Vandy. Bobby Johnson you just got Croomed!

Kansas proves that they are still a factor in the Big 12.

Everyone point and laugh at Notre Dame. OK that’s enough. I seriously wonder how much Charlie Weis weighs.

It took the G-Spot Stephen “I keyed a professor’s car” Garcia to allow South Carolina a victory or KY. Hey Brooks maybe they stole your plays as well…asshole.

Look out Virginia is 3-3.

Not only does Lou Holtz have a lisp, slobbers when he talks but he also looks like he has had a chemical peel that never healed.

Georgia Tech you barely defeated Gardner-Webb seriously WTF?

Show some love to Minnesota as they handed the Illinois Fighting Zookers a surprising loss at Illinois.

Wow Iowa actually won a game.

Dumb ass comment of the day goes to Lou Holtz when he mentioned comparing Colt McCoy’s stats to that of Vince Young’s the year Vince Young won the Heisman. The problem is Young never won the Heisman…what a dumb ass.

College Football Week 4 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 21, 2008

So far this season is not like last season but so far so good nonetheless.

Tennessee sucks! Wait I already knew that…expect some more on this subject as the week progresses.

Georgia adds to the PAC 10 non conference woes by beating Arizona State with ease and Oregon did not help matters much by losing to Boise State. Basically everyone in the PAC 10 is playing for second place behind SoCal. Anyone see the awesome dive Moreno did to score the first TD? However he should have received a flag for celebration.

To see it live was awesome.

Missouri failed to impress against Buffalo.

Texas and Texas Tech. both flex some Big 12 muscle yesterday by trouncing their opponents.

And The Tide of Alabama continues to roll however credit 14 points of the 49 they scored to great defense.

South Florida fails to impress.

Not so fast Auburn fans and haters…they do have an offense after all but they lost nevertheless. Les “Big Hat Little Penis” Miles might be at least the 2nd best coach in the SEC. This was easily the best game of the week.

South Carolina gets by 1-AA Wofford…Spurrier can’t be happy right now.

Ohio State is the most over ranked in the top 25, Penn State is the team to beat in the Big Eleven Ten.

BYU is easily this years BCS buster…but let’s not forget about Utah.

East Carolina…fails…but Skip Holtz is still a hot commodity.

Florida State’s offense is simply lost and Wake Forest is the team to bear in the ACC.

Butch Davis better go back to the drawing board because North Carolina isn’t there yet.

Georgia Tech wrecked Miss State and Sly Croom.

Hell has frozen over because right now Vandy is sitting atop the SEC East.

Kansas let’s not forget about them.

Clemson got some frustration out by beating up on SC State.

Fresno State…is still ranked for a reason.

Hey Notre Dame still sucks imagine that.

Pittsburgh pick up your Big East flag & wave it proudly…just like last year Iowa sucks.

Look at Maryland 3-1 and might be ranked come later today.

Boston College could also be ranked as well.

Syracuse actually wins a game, of course it was against a 1-AA opponent but a win is a win.

Cincinnati is still looking like the team to beat in the Big East.

Miami will be scary good by the end of the year.

College Football Week 2 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 7, 2008

First off everyone stop for a moment and point and laugh at the Big Least. The years of fooling the college football world with smoke and mirrors and weak scheduling are over.

WVU falls to East Carolina and it was never even close. Somewhere Rich Rodriguez is laughing because he never lost to East Carolina.

How hot is the name “Skip Holtz” right now? I’ve been to various teams message boards since yesterday and a lot teams whose coaches are in the hot seat want him. For example:…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

………………………………………………………………………..

  • South Carolina
  • Clemson
  • Tennessee
  • Syracuse
  • Arkansas
  • Louisville
  • Washington
  • Pittsburgh
  • Notre Dame

Speaking of Syracuse how is it pathetic to lose to Akron. Other Big Least fail boats are Uconn & Pittsburgh. Sure Uconn won yesterday but it took an overtime to beat Temple. Are you kidding me? And Pitt struggled with Buffalo.

The best team in the Big Least is Cincinnati. Sure they lost yesterday but it’s difficult to go to Oklahoma and win.

Oh yeah you can continue pointing and laughing at the ACC. Way to go Maryland.

Ohio State should drop in the polls due to their dismal performance against Ohio.

Miami will be scary good by the middle of this season. And what a rank amateur move it was on Urban Meyer’s part to kick that last field goal. He could have let Miami have the ball on the 10 yard line. That was disgraceful.

Something else that is disgraceful is the PAC 10 refs. What an idiotic call yesterday involving Washington and BYU.

Arkansas better step it up or they will not win a conference game all year.

Notre Dame Football still sucks. If San Diego St. didn’t make some stupid mistakes they would have won that game.

Under the raider teams

  • Nebraska
  • Mississippi (I always knew Coach 0 could recruit now they have a coach.)
  • Clemson they will bounce back
  • Air Force
  • F$U
  • Cal
  • Georgia Tech
  • Iowa
  • Purdue
  • Oklahoma State
  • Vandy
  • TCU
  • Kansas St.
  • Arizona
  • Indiana

Teams that impressed

  • East Carolina
  • Wisconsin
  • Georgia
  • Oregon
  • Kentucky
  • Cal
  • Miami in a loss that game was closer than what the score dictates
  • Texas
  • Oklahoma
  • Missouri
  • TCU

Teams that failed to impress

  • Ohio State
  • Michigan
  • Illinois
  • Auburn
  • Texas A&M
  • Arkansas
  • Alabama
  • Kansas
  • South Florida
  • Utah
  • Texas Tech.
  • Texas

Schools that might be looking a new coach next year

  • Arkansas
  • Syracuse (that guy is a goner)
  • Pitt (him to)
  • Texas A&M
  • Tennessee (I had to)
  • Michigan
  • Washington
  • Colorado
  • Notre Dame
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Memphis
  • Louisville

Even the water girls of Ole Miss are hotties much like their cheerleaders.

The Miami cheerleaders are hot in a soft-core porn sort of way

Georgia’s cheerleaders are so-so

There’s More To This Big 10 Team Than Wheat & Crappy Football

Posted by Joel Jackson on February 26, 2008

Well now that I have a chance to write, after travelling for the job, missing the game of the year because I was on a plane (UT v. Memphis), and being depressed about losing to a talented Tennessee basketball team, I get to now focus my attention to college football players and programs out of control. I know, you’re probably thinking Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, Florida State, or even Penn State. But just as quietly as they have sucked the last couple of years on the field, this Big 10 team has proven that even they are not too slow for the police blotter off of the field…

iowa-06-hawk-oas.gif

The University of Iowa Hawkeyes have had 14 player arrests in the past calendar year. This hawk has been flying off of the radar, just like their past football season. The latest arrest happened this past week, as WR James Cleveland and backup QB Arvell Nelson was arrested. Cleveland was busted for, get this, 21 pills of oxycodone and 24 doses of cardisoprodol, a drug to relax muscles. The drugs had no label and no prescription. Nelson was arrested because he had weed (aka Gainesville’s finest or Knoxville Recruiting Tool) sitting on his desk in plain view. I wonder if Nelson is an Ag-Science Major…

Well the school has had players arrested for the following: several drunken driving arrests, credit card fraud (also known as the Gottlieb), taking DVD’s from Wal-Mart (hopefully not the $1 bin DVD’s), sexual assault, and the ever popular failure to appear. Wow. Jai Eugene over at Losers With Socks wrote about the trend of Alabama having “16”, but give these guys a little time and they should beat that record easily. Fulmer Cup my ass.

I guess instead of having pink locker rooms at Kinnick Stadium, they might paint the dorm rooms pink…

This is NOT a Photoshop btw…

The Revelations After a Saturdays Worth of Football Week 9

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on October 28, 2007

Let’s look at the SEC East Division. Florida beats Tennessee, South Carolina beats Georgia, Tennessee beat both South Carolina & Georgia & Georgia beats Florida. Florida also has other SEC losses to Auburn & LSU. Make sense yet? I didn’t think so.

Georgia perhaps played their best game of the decade against Florida yesterday.

NC State ruins Virginia’s run.

Coming off the by or is it bye? Either way coming off the bye week Clemson is looking good.

Oregon is perhaps the best team in the country.

Will someone please for the love of God beat Hawaii so they will fall to 60th in polls.

Every time Penn State has a “white out” game at night they lose, anyone else notice that?

Thanks Cal the one time I was pulling for you to win, you don’t. I blame Aberclay.

Kansas is beginning to look legitimate.

The team to beat in the Big Least in Uconn. (snicker)

Notice how the pink shirt defense of Nebraska showed up late and let Texas come back to win? Callahan is a goner.

People at Ole Miss are already starting talking about firing Coach 0. That would be a mistake because I enjoy picking on him and he is only in his third season.

Notre Dame didn’t lose yesterday!!! but then again they didn’t play either.

Watch out ACC Wake Forest is starting to come alive.

Give it up for Colorado they need one more win to be bowl eligible.

Iowa sucks less, Michigan State sucks more.

Finally if anyone is still wanting to fire Coach Croom of Mississippi State see below. He deserves to stay.

Oh yeah, you did.

So I profess on this day 10/28/07.

The Revelations After a Saturdays Worth of Football Week 8

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on October 22, 2007

Better late than never, I’ve been busy rejoicing Boston’s miracle comeback of the Cleveland Indians. Here are this weeks revelations after a Saturday of college football.

The real test for Ohio State begins this upcoming weekend.

I heard the interview with Les Miles after the thrilling ending of the LSU game, he honestly believed there were 16 seconds on the clock when the ball was snapped…boy was his team lucky.

Oklahoma looked boring.

The upset of South Carolina shouldn’t surprise anyone, they are 88th in total offense and Vandy has the SEC’s 3rd best defense, but it is funny. 🙂

The rematch of Florida and LSU in the SEC championship game is eagerly awaited.

Oohh Cal lost to UCLA…or as I like to put it…the only team Notre Dame can beat this year. I’m sure Abarclay is a happy camper right now.

Kansas is 7-0…and yet no one cares.

Bye Bye Texas Tech, Missouri just crushed you.

Has anyone noticed that since Mike “I’m 40 I’m a man!” Gundy went on his rant, his team has played extremely well?

Virginia is quietly putting together a good season.

Clemson scored 70 points…which is 3 points higher than their collective IQs

Miami and Florida State played yesterday…does anyone care?

Please…for sake of not burning anyones retinas, do not wear this hideous uniforms again Notre Dame. It’s not like they helped you at all.

Anyone else notice that Appalachian State lost again yesterday?

Michigan played well without their running back.

Houston Nutt’s Arkansas team beat the cajan hell out of Ole Miss, but he’s still in the hot seat.

Iowa is back to sucking at full force.

Texas A&M won the “Lame Duck Head Coach” bowl. Callahan is hopefully gathering boxes to pack his stuff in.

With Auburn and Tennessee both having 3 losses this year, will below be the scene this time next year?

So I profess on this day 10/22/07.

The Revelations After a Saturdays Worth of Football Week 7

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on October 14, 2007

As I said last week, this is the best college football season ever! Does anyone want to be #1? Here is what I noticed yesterday while eating chicken strips served by a waitress whose skirt was so small it could have passed for Coach 0’s IQ.

The difference between Kentucky and LSU yesterday was clearly the coaching job.

Southern Cal. looked unimpressive yesterday.

Vanderbilt looked scary but the running game of Georgia put them in their place.

Cal proved they were pretenders.

OMG Iowa actually won a game…they still suck.

JoePa focused all his inner road rage into coaching this week & look at the outcome.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Coach Fran fired today.

Let’s see Nebraska fired Frank Solich because of his record…and yet they suck worse than ever before. Black shirt defense my ass more like pink shirt with lace defense. As America’s coach Mike Gundy would say “Their defense is garbage and it makes me want to puke!”

Clemson didn’t lose!! Oh wait they weren’t playing my bad

Ole Miss has the best looking cheerleaders by far.

The reason why Boston lost to Cleveland is because I didn’t wear my Red Boston hat, I wore the blue one instead. The loss falls on me.

Tennessee’s defense is schizophrenic.

Oklahoma made a huge statement yesterday, look for them to play Missouri again in the championship game.

Nick Saban was almost out coached by Coach 0 (snicker)

South Florida looked impressive.

Houston Nutt should be looking for a new job.

Bye Bye Cincinnati now get out of the big boy polls.

Virgina showed the world that the ACC is better than the Big East.

Colorado is back to sucking.

ABC has the worst game commentators while CBS has the best.

Michigan should be ranked again.

Finally I can’t rip on Notre Dame enough so I leave you this:

So I profess on this day 10/14/07.
