Broken Plays: Yesterday kinda Sucked Edition

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on November 11, 2008

The following video surmises what it’s like being a Tennessee fan over the past couple of days.

He got JACKED UP. (Hoots and hollers) The University of Tennessee has just offered this kid a full ride.

Yesterday was particularly rough for my fellow Tennessee fans.

  • Freshman point guard Daniel West has been ruled ineligible for the season
  • Tailback Jarvis Giles became the latest to rescind his pledge to be a part of UT’s 2009 signing class
  • Jon Gruden said he isn’t interested in leaving his job to come to UT
  • D.J. Swearinger de-committed from the 2009 signing class.

However I have some great news for fellow Tennessee fans. I got a FAT raise yesterday! W00t!!!

To celebrate that fact I offer this photo of Hailey and Hanna Nutt, the 20-year old twin daughters of Ole Miss Coach Houston Nutt.

Oh man, I think I'm going to bust an Orgeron.

Here’s something that might make your brain hurt. Florida State safety Myron Rolle will miss the November 22 game against Maryland … because he has to interview for a Rhodes Scholarship. Seriously. [SI.com]

Even though this is dated I’m writing about it anyway. The election has passed and we have a new president elect. Now I could care less who you voted for, but the follow photo should classified as hate speech. Whether you supported McCain or not you have to admit that labeling him as a fan of Oakland Raiders is just plain wrong.

Cubs fans I haven’t forgotten about you.

College Football Week 10 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on November 2, 2008

Thank God there’s more chaos in the polls this week and here is a newsflash: Tennessee sucks really sucks. I’ll have a complete write up on their game tomorrow after I review the tape today.

Rich “Dirty Sanchez” Rodriguez will be home this holiday season because for the first time in 33 years the Michigan Wolverines will not be bowling. The last time that happened it was 1975.

Look for West Virginia to be ranked later today.

Central Michigan gets an upset victory over Indiana. Don’t worry Hoosier fans you have basketball season to look forward to. Oh wait no you don’t.

I feel your pain fan Wisconsin fans.

Minnesota gets upset by that smart Big 11 10 team known as Northwestern.

Miami is a dangerous team to play just ask Virginia.

Houston Nutt continues to impress as Ole Miss defeated Auburn.

Kansas opened a can of whip ass on K-State.

Arkansas gets an upset victory over Tulsa.

Way to go Pitt, you’re still relevant.

Miss State you’re not relevant.

Cal gets the upset win verses Oregon.

Georgia Tech continues to win.

Florida took revenge for the last year’s loss again Georgia & set themselves up to make a run.

It was the last game of Texas’s gauntlet but Texas Tech spoiled the party and remains undefeated. Now will Oklahoma be ranked above Texas Tech? That really wouldn’t be fair would it since they just defeated the team that handed Oklahoma their only loss of the season. This is why we need a playoff structure.

Duke was so close but yet so far away yesterday.

North Texas…what a week…12 players fail drug tests and yet they still managed a victory yesterday.

Oh my God Syracuse actually won a game yesterday.

Don’t look now but Oregon State is almost bowl eligible.

Utah continues it’s reign as a BCS buster.

Clemson wins a HUGE win against Boston College.

College Football Week 9 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on October 26, 2008

It sucks to be a Tennessee fan this season however I’ll still support them no matter what. As always a complete write up on the Tennessee/Alabama game will be tomorrow after I torture myself by watching a replay of the game.

There were other teams in action yesterday. Let’s look and see what we have learned from yesterday.

UCONN got back on the Big Least track by hammering Cincinnati.

Indiana upset the smarties of Northwestern.

Apparently Boston College doesn’t want too go to the ACC championship game.

Wisconsin finally won a game by beating the fighting Zookers of Illinois.

Here’s a piece of advice: never schedule Texas Tech as a homecoming game. Just ask the Kansas Jayhawks.

The fall of Wake Forest and the rise of Miami as begun.

Minnesota is 7-1 and for real.

The gaytors of Florida hammered Kentucky by blowing them out by 58 points. Hey did they steal your plays as well?

Oklahoma scored 55 points in the 1st half against Kansas State but only 3 in the 2nd half. Oklahoma still handily won the game.

Vandy is still not bowl eligible and Couch Cut picks up another win for Duke.

Florida State beat Virginia Tech, that and the fact Virginia beat Georgia Tech means Virginia of all ACC teams is on top of the Coastal division in the ACC.

Look out folks Louisville might be back, they upset South Florida yesterday.

The beast known as Georgia reared its head yesterday by hanging 52 points at LSU. As you can see from the photo LSU fans is thrilled at all. (Click on it)

Trends started at Rutgers…

1. College football (1866)
2. Giving the finger to hovering HD cameras at college football games (2008)

For the first time in 10 years Michigan State beat Michigan at Michigan. I’m sure things are getting hot for Rich “Dirty Sanchez” Rodriguez.

Texas barely wins against Oklahoma State. Folks this Oklahoma State is for real just America’s coach, Mike Gundy.

Pittsburgh was doing well but they regressed yesterday while Rutgers beat them.

Missouri took some frustration out on Colorado yesterday.

Texas A&M beat Iowa State. Check this video out. You have to love fans whose team is not performing well talking shit about the other teams. This video is hilarious!!!

JoePa gets his first win at the horseshoe since 1978 as Penn State beats Ohio State officially knocking them from playing in this year’s title game.

Washington is still winless and Notre Dame is 5-2.  They could become ranked this week.

Houston Nutt took Ole Miss in to Arkansas handed them another loss. I’m he is savoring that one.

College Football Week 8 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on October 19, 2008

Ahh…another Saturday of college football has past us by. No real upsets to speak of however it was another great smorgasbord of games with some thrilling endings.

Don’t let the Tennessee score fool you. My complete wrap-up of that game will be tomorrow.

Everyone remember BYU? You know they’re the team with the unstoppable offense that was going to bust the BCS this year. Well TCU has something to say about that.

South Florida keeps in the mix of the Big Least by rolling over Syracuse.

Look out the smarty Northwestern team is now bowl eligible. They beat Purdue handily and this has to be Joe Tiller’s last season.

Maryland is like Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde of the ACC that or Wake Forest just wants to avoid a trip to Tampa and a chance to play in the ACC championship game.

Wow Rutgers actually won a game.

Georgia Tech upended Clemson. This was Dabo Swinney’s first game as interim head coach. I noticed that the AD was on the sidelines because he said something that obviously Swinney didn’t like.

If I was Swinney I would simply blame the AD at the post-game press conference.

“That play that got Korn injured, that was the AD’s call. The hook & ladder play it was the AD’s as well. I figured since he was on the sidelines interfering with my coaching he could call some of the plays”

Seriously folks the AD doesn’t belong on the sidelines. He should have been in the luxury suites entertaining the alumni.

Texas Tech manages to get the offense rolling and defeats Texas A&M.

Wisconsin once was ranked as high as #10 in the country, dropped their 3rd game in a row while taking a beating from Iowa.

Georgia sloppily beat Vandy. Vandy is looking to become bowl eligible.

Oklahoma State is 7-0 for the first time since the 1940’s.

Everyone though Michigan State had turned a corner…then they met Ohio State yesterday. It wasn’t pretty.

Oklahoma might the 4th in the country but they’re also 4th in their division.

I’m one of the few people that actually took Virginia to beat North Carolina.

Ole Miss. gave Alabama a huge scare. Alabama starts fast and fails to finish big.

Michigan looked awesome in the first half against Penn State. To bad the game has a second half.

Kentucky rallied 2 touchdowns in about the final minutes of the game to defeat Arkansas.

Don’t look now but Pittsburgh is now 5-1.

Hey did you know that Virginia Tech played Boston College last night? It was actually a decent game and Virginia Tech, like Wake Forest, doesn’t want too go to the ACC championship game either.

Texas crushes Missouri. (Insert Obligatory ‘Don’t Mess With Texas’ Headline Here)

California gets ranked the second time in the season just to get beaten again.

South Carolina fails to win a third game in a row. (Snicker)

Finally. My beloved Red Sox are still alive thanks to this fat-ass. Of course TBS has an epic fail due to technically difficulties.

“Two circuit breakers in our Atlanta transmission operations tripped causing the master router and its backup – which are necessary to transmit any incoming feed outbound – to shut down. This impacted our live feed from being distributed to any of the other networks in the Turner portfolio and caused the delay in our coverage. Both our primary and backup routers were impacted by this problem. We apologize to baseball fans for this mishap that caused a delay in our coverage.”

Everyone wanting to watch the game in the U.S. had to wade through about 20 minutes of a rerun of the Steve Harvey Show, and missed BJ Upton’s solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.

I’m no expert on TV transmission system design, but wouldn’t you think that your backup system would be isolated from your main system such that a circuit breaker going down wouldn’t take them both off line? Isn’t that, you know, the point of a backup system?

Way to go TBS…& where is the apology to those that might be upset about missing the last 10 minutes of the show? They might have wanted to see more wacky shenanigans.

College Football Week 5 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 28, 2008

Ah how I love upsets and there were plenty for this week.

Well the Fulmer death clock continues to tick…as always be expecting a full game grade tomorrow after I watch a tape of the game today.

Don’t look now but UCONN is 5-0, you should expect them to be ranked.

Michigan State is a contender for now…but for some reason they always implode mid season.

Speaking of imploding, Syracuse actually led Pittsburgh but ultimately lost. There’s internet chatter about Lloyd Carr becoming the next Orangemen coach.

Clemson…WTF? Oh, wait my mistake…the annual Tommy Bowden fail is occurring.

Northwestern is 5-0 and Iowa still sucks.

The miracle that occurred in the Miami-North Carolina game was amazing to watch.

Gee. Urban…is fourth down and one yard to go. You trail by one with time quickly ticking away. Why didn’t you try the 49 yard field goal? Was it arrogance? At least update the play book and run something other than a Tebow keeper. Great win for Ole Miss and the Rev. Nutt.

Fresno state continues to win and I love it.

I’m getting sick and damn tired of seeing that stupid Olive Garden commercial that they were over playing last year.

I hate F$U when I pick them to win, they let down. Win I pick to lose they win. Bastards!

Look out Notre Dame is 3-1 let’s place them in the Top 5 stat!

Rich “Dirty Sanchez” Rodriguez gets a huge…huge win against a top 10 Wisconsin team.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to the top 25 East Carolina because it is officially over.

Wow…Navy beats Wake Forest…just how bad does the ACC suck?

Oklahoma should have scored more points than they did.

South Carolina struggled against a UAB team that Tennessee blew out…interesting.

Wow Miss. State does have an offense after all, to bad they lost though.

Look for South Florida to enter the top 10 this week.

Welcome back Virginia Tech. however the first year Nebraska coach actually helped your cause by getting a 15 yard penalty for “debating” a call with the ref.

I hope Ty Willingham has called North American Moving by now.

What can I say about Alabama…other than they cheat, but they laid it on Georgia. Anyone else notice that Nick Saban is sporting the Behr Bryant alcoholism red nose?

Don’t look now but Duke is 3-1 and the Virginia coach is probably and should be suicidal at this point.

Joe Pa rules bitches but give the fighting Zookers credit for keeping it respectable.

College Football Week 2 is in the books & here’s what I learned

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 7, 2008

First off everyone stop for a moment and point and laugh at the Big Least. The years of fooling the college football world with smoke and mirrors and weak scheduling are over.

WVU falls to East Carolina and it was never even close. Somewhere Rich Rodriguez is laughing because he never lost to East Carolina.

How hot is the name “Skip Holtz” right now? I’ve been to various teams message boards since yesterday and a lot teams whose coaches are in the hot seat want him. For example:…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

………………………………………………………………………..

  • South Carolina
  • Clemson
  • Tennessee
  • Syracuse
  • Arkansas
  • Louisville
  • Washington
  • Pittsburgh
  • Notre Dame

Speaking of Syracuse how is it pathetic to lose to Akron. Other Big Least fail boats are Uconn & Pittsburgh. Sure Uconn won yesterday but it took an overtime to beat Temple. Are you kidding me? And Pitt struggled with Buffalo.

The best team in the Big Least is Cincinnati. Sure they lost yesterday but it’s difficult to go to Oklahoma and win.

Oh yeah you can continue pointing and laughing at the ACC. Way to go Maryland.

Ohio State should drop in the polls due to their dismal performance against Ohio.

Miami will be scary good by the middle of this season. And what a rank amateur move it was on Urban Meyer’s part to kick that last field goal. He could have let Miami have the ball on the 10 yard line. That was disgraceful.

Something else that is disgraceful is the PAC 10 refs. What an idiotic call yesterday involving Washington and BYU.

Arkansas better step it up or they will not win a conference game all year.

Notre Dame Football still sucks. If San Diego St. didn’t make some stupid mistakes they would have won that game.

Under the raider teams

  • Nebraska
  • Mississippi (I always knew Coach 0 could recruit now they have a coach.)
  • Clemson they will bounce back
  • Air Force
  • F$U
  • Cal
  • Georgia Tech
  • Iowa
  • Purdue
  • Oklahoma State
  • Vandy
  • TCU
  • Kansas St.
  • Arizona
  • Indiana

Teams that impressed

  • East Carolina
  • Wisconsin
  • Georgia
  • Oregon
  • Kentucky
  • Cal
  • Miami in a loss that game was closer than what the score dictates
  • Texas
  • Oklahoma
  • Missouri
  • TCU

Teams that failed to impress

  • Ohio State
  • Michigan
  • Illinois
  • Auburn
  • Texas A&M
  • Arkansas
  • Alabama
  • Kansas
  • South Florida
  • Utah
  • Texas Tech.
  • Texas

Schools that might be looking a new coach next year

  • Arkansas
  • Syracuse (that guy is a goner)
  • Pitt (him to)
  • Texas A&M
  • Tennessee (I had to)
  • Michigan
  • Washington
  • Colorado
  • Notre Dame
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Memphis
  • Louisville

Even the water girls of Ole Miss are hotties much like their cheerleaders.

The Miami cheerleaders are hot in a soft-core porn sort of way

Georgia’s cheerleaders are so-so

Razorback Stadium

Posted by Joel Jackson on August 14, 2008

Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium ranks 4th among the football stadiums in the SEC West. This is just my opinion. Truth be told, this is a hard ranking, because I would actually consider this not only one of the best stadiums in the SEC but one of the best college football stadiums that I have been to. I would even go so far as to say that it is better than some NFL stadiums (Oakland, Jacksonville, San Francisco, and Minnesota come to mind). The problem is that the other stadiums ahead of Razorback Stadium are that much better.

The passion of he Hog fans definitely rivals that of a lot of fanbases, all the way down to FOIA’s. I mean seriously, would Middle Tennessee State University fans file legal documents to see the text messages of the local hot reporter that he is banging friends with???

The one thing that I really do not understand about Razorback Stadium is that Arkansas also plays games in Little Rock at War Mmorial. Certainly I understand the historical relevance of the field, but if Razorback Stadium is so much nicer, why continue to play there??? It will be just another second home to Bobby Petrino until he packs his carpet bag and heads elsewhere (Notre Dame anyone)???

The sounds of pig sooie, coupled with great BBQ, friendly people, and passion not seen in the Big 10, gives Arkansas good, almost great. Too bad the stadium wasn’t built on the backs of human trafficking (hint to #3)…

So to recap so far:

SEC West Stadiums:

6. Ole Miss (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium)

5. Mississippi State (Wade Davis Stadium)

4. Arkansas (Wade Davis Stadium)

Reggie Herring Seems To be Whining About Not Getting the Job Before Arkansas Starts A Search

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on November 29, 2007

Come play with us Reggie…forever and ever and ever..

Reggie Herring…the fiery bald spark plug of a man who resembles those two creepy twins from “The Shining”, seems to be already moaning and bitching about not getting the Arkansas head football coach job. Sure Arkansas hasn’t officially stated a search yet, but do you think that’ll stop him? Story

“(Incoming athletic director) Jeff Long knows where I am. He knows where my office is and I’ll just say it publicly, if he’s going to start interviewing coordinators, nobody can touch me, given the opportunity.”

Thank God I wasn’t drinking anything when I read that, I surely would have electrocuted myself by spitting it out while I laughed. Hey Reggie two words, Bo Pelini, now shut up bitch. You’ve only been there three seasons plus you were fired from Clemson.

“I don’t want to come across like I’m politicking for this job. At the end of the day, really anybody out there doesn’t know if I could do a good job or not if given the opportunity. My approach to this is this: If they’re going to start interviewing coordinators around the country, I don’t think there’s a better coordinator in the country that knows this school, knows the players, knows the fans, can bring these people together.”

Reggie Herring…peace maker. The funny thing about that statement is his own son, Adam, declined to play for Arkansas and picked Auburn. I’ll give him credit though, his three year stint at Arkansas is longest he’s been able to stay at one job. The Arkansas fans will crucify him.

There have been early rumors about the current Raiders head coach, Lane Kiffin, in the running. He daddy apparently was a coach there in the 70’s.

“I was 3 years old,” Lane Kiffin said when asked about his memories of Arkansas. “I’ll never go back to that fucking hell hole again”.

Of course Nutt will try to take some of the Arkansas staff with him so maybe Herring will be offered a position there.

“Right now I am in that process,” Nutt said. “I do have a few that are coming with me. I can’t say right now at this time.”

Translation: He’s waiting to see who tries to stab him in back by claiming they were the real reason of the Hogs success.

Offense coordinator David Lee, quite possibly the worst in the country is still on the Arkansas staff.

“David has been told to go score and score a lot,” Herring said. “Score often.”

Herring apparently knows he needs all the help he can get in obtaining this gig.

My own son wouldn’t play for me.

So I profess on this day 11/29/07

Forbes 20 Most Valuable College Football Team$

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on November 29, 2007

I hate Forbes, I really do. However I’m working mad OT at work and I’m tired so I’m going to write about this. I’ll be working mad OT next week as well.

Forbes has ranked the 20 most valuable football teams. By valuable they mean money wise. Let’s look at their list.

  1. Notre Lame Dame. Value 101 Million. Clearly there’s a lot of morons out there who pull for losing teams.
  2. Texas. Value 92 Million. Thank part-time pot head Matthew McConaughey for that.
  3. Georgia Value 90 Million. Might be third on Forbes list but second in SEC east. (Snicker)
  4. Michigan Value 85 Million. That number might drop after the Appy State loss.
  5. Florida Value 84 Million. I wonder if that includes the stolen items and drug money.
  6. LSU Value 76 Million. People love corndogs, at least their fans love smelling like them.
  7. The Good Guys. Tennessee Value 74 Million GO VOLS!
  8. Auburn Value 73 Million. War (Cha Ching) Eagle
  9. Satan’s team Alabama Value 72 Million. Even at this Auburn beats them.
  10. Ohio State Value71 Million. They’re used to losing to SEC teams.
  11. Oklahoma Value 70 Million. Let’s see Mike Gundy yell about that.
  12. South Carolina Value 69 Million. WTF? Does Forbes know they’re operating in red?
  13. Penn State Value 69 Million. Even though it’s the same value as Carolina, Forbes has sense enough to rank Carolina higher.
  14. USC (The one that wins championships Value 53 Million. My my my that’s not good.
  15. Arkansas Value 53 Million. I wonder if that number will go up after a new coach is hired.
  16. Texas A&M Value 50 Million. This number should skyrocket since that prick Coach Fran is gone.
  17. Washington Value 50 Million. No not the Redskins, but Pac 10 Huskies.
  18. Nebraska Value 49 Million. Callahan has ruined that program more ways than one.
  19. Michigan State Value 44 Million. WTF? They have fans? If so why?
  20. Wisconsin Value 43 Million. Cheese makes more money.

Notice anything? I did. No ACC teams and praise God no West Virginia & no Big Least teams period. Six of top ten were SEC schools. That conference rules in more ways than one.

So I profess on this day 11/29/07

Houston Nutt, Man, Myth, Legend & the New Loser Coach for Ole Miss

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on November 28, 2007

Praying to the Hog God won’t change things.

In less than 24 hours after Houston (Deeze nuts bitch) Nutt, basically told Arkansas to go fuck themselves, he’s decided to pursue his coaching opportunities at Ole Miss. Story

Let’s make sense of this. Saturday Living Coaching God Coach 0 was fired. Monday Nutt turns down a raise and an extension to stay at Arkansas where he’s been the coach for the past 10 years. Today Ole Miss confirms he’ll be announced as the new head coach on Wednesday. If anyone reading this thinks these events just “happened”, then click the X in the corner, you shouldn’t have the pleasure of reading my genius writings.

Nutt said in his “Oxygen Channel” like press conference yesterday:

“Deep, deep down in my heart as an Arkansan, as person who loves the Razorbacks so much, I wanted for the state to come together as one. At this time, I didn’t think we could have one heartbeat.”

God, what a fag. Nutt and the chancellor of Ole Miss should really get along in a Broke Back Mountain sense. I’m sure he wanted all the people in the state to hold hands and sing that stupid jingle Coke puts out every year a Christmas time.

“My dream job. I thought I’d be here for a long, long time,” Nutt said. “Sometimes things change and you have to make a hard decision.”

More like you weren’t winning games you should have won because you have so much baggage in your personal life, Jerry Springer could dedicate three hours of airtime covering it.

But that was yesterday, now today he trades in Arkansas colors for Ole Miss colors. That game will be really interesting to watch. Former Bloods coach now coaching the Crips.
Nutt and Ole Miss were already discussing a the contract details Monday night, so much for being heartbroken over leaving Arkansas. I’m sure Les Miles is really hoping and praying that Michigan offers him the coaching job there, because what’s worse than being ranked #1 and losing to Arkansas. You guessed it, being ranked #1 and losing to Ole Miss.

Ole Miss believes their problem with mediocrity is over. Nutt’s mediocre record in conference play is 42-38. I wonder in three years if Nutt will be the next one fired.

Nutt, said he left Arkansas to help mend a split among fans after off-the-field problems were compounded by a difficult season. Yeah this will really help get the Arkansas fans back to loving you now.

As for me, I’m glad Nutt still in the SEC. I hope Coach 0 lands on his feet somewhere that I can keep tabs of him. I love writing about these two idiots.

Hey Nutt, do you think you will be the one to teach Jerrell Powe how to read?

Yeah the welcome committee is going all out. Deezzze Nutt Bitches!!!

So I profess on this day 11/28/07
