Writers Wanted
If you would like to be a writer for this blog, guest blogger or have an opposing view point in the form of a story to balance things out, e-mail it in. And yes you can make fun of Tennessee.
Wow. I don’t think that the most crazed Mountaineer fan would have expected to blow out Oklahoma. Of course, Oklahoma hasn’t shown jack the past few big bowl games, which is puzzling considering all of the talent that they have (more on this later). This post will be quick, but I would like to start by congratulating the West By God Virginia Mountaineers on a very impressive performance.
As for the new head coach, multiple sources state that interim coach Bill Stewart will be named head coach. I like Bill Stewart and his fun going self. However, his one head coaching stop was at Virginia Military Institute, where he went 8-25 from 1994-1996. I know the Mountaineers had a storybook ending, but I keep thinking Bobby Williams of Michigan State. Bobby Williams was the RB coach for Michigan State when Nick Saban was the head coach. When Saban left for LSU, Williams was given the interim tag for the Citrus Bowl game. After an extensive search, Michigan State upset Florida in the Citrus Bowl, the players carried Coach Williams off the field, and the school listened to the players and named him head coach. After two and a half seasons, Williams was fired.
I really hope this doesn’t go that route, because from seeing some of the Fiesta Bowl press conferences and watching the post game interview, I really like Stewart. I just have this funny feeling that West Virginia is making an emotionally charged decision without thorough investigation, and I have seen what can happen…

I hate Forbes, I really do. However I’m working mad OT at work and I’m tired so I’m going to write about this. I’ll be working mad OT next week as well.
Notre Lame Dame. Value 101 Million. Clearly there’s a lot of morons out there who pull for losing teams.
Texas. Value 92 Million. Thank part-time pot head Matthew McConaughey for that.
Georgia Value 90 Million. Might be third on Forbes list but second in SEC east. (Snicker)
Michigan Value 85 Million. That number might drop after the Appy State loss.
Florida Value 84 Million. I wonder if that includes the stolen items and drug money.
LSU Value 76 Million. People love corndogs, at least their fans love smelling like them.
The Good Guys. Tennessee Value 74 Million GO VOLS!
Auburn Value 73 Million. War (Cha Ching) Eagle
Satan’s team Alabama Value 72 Million. Even at this Auburn beats them.
Ohio State Value71 Million. They’re used to losing to SEC teams.
Oklahoma Value 70 Million. Let’s see Mike Gundy yell about that.
South Carolina Value 69 Million. WTF? Does Forbes know they’re operating in red?
Penn State Value 69 Million. Even though it’s the same value as Carolina, Forbes has sense enough to rank Carolina higher.
USC (The one that wins championships Value 53 Million. My my my that’s not good.
Arkansas Value 53 Million. I wonder if that number will go up after a new coach is hired.
Texas A&M Value 50 Million. This number should skyrocket since that prick Coach Fran is gone.
Washington Value 50 Million. No not the Redskins, but Pac 10 Huskies.
Nebraska Value 49 Million. Callahan has ruined that program more ways than one.
Michigan State Value 44 Million. WTF? They have fans? If so why?
Wisconsin Value 43 Million. Cheese makes more money.
Notice anything? I did. No ACC teams and praise God no West Virginia & no Big Least teams period. Six of top ten were SEC schools. That conference rules in more ways than one.
Yesterday wasn’t as exciting as the previous past Saturdays have been, but still for the 11th time this season, a team in the top 5 lost to a non-ranked team.
Good job Texas Tech but I have a few points to make.
Mike Leach talks about how officials are against him but those officials robbed OU of a touchdown.
It’s commendable that you didn’t want to run up the score on your friend Bob Stoops, it almost cost you the game
The Texas Tech cheerleaders are hot.
The Oklahoma QB, Sam Bradford, looks like a retarded caveman. Moving on….
Coach 0 almost looked like a coach yesterday and you could understand what he was saying, OK Ole Miss where’s the real Coach 0 at?
West Virginia almost lost, damn it Cincinnati learn to finish the job.
If Georgia committed those four turn overs at Kentucky they might not have won.
BC didn’t beat Clemson, those receivers that can’t seem to catch a ball that is placed perfectly beat Clemson.
Who would have thought that one of the biggest games of the year would Missouri & Kansas.
Well Notre Dame can finally look away, your horrible season is over.
Fulmer is like a resilient cockroach, no matter how hard he tries to get fired he finds a way to win.
How Penn State could let Michigan State comeback like that is beyond me.
What ever to that team that hammered Tennessee without mercy? No not Alabama, the other one, no not Florida, that other one, yes Cal…maybe Aberclay will answer that one for me. 😉
With Houston Nutt rumors swirling around his retirement, I see….I see a a…Baylor job in his near future.
I’m sick and tired of seeing about every damn Chick-Fil-A commercial they run this year.
There’s a lot of big games coming up this week. I’ll try to preview some of them.
Finally Lloyd Carr…I said at the beginning of the season he was retiring, it appears I’m right. Ohio State will really miss him.
Another great weekend for games and two more undefeated go down to cause chaos in the BCS. I love it.
I’m not quite yet impressed with Ohio State due to the overall weakness of the Big Eleven Ten.
Now that the Matt Ryan Express for Heisman was derailed by Florida State it’s still basically anyones game.
Les Miles takes the first Saban bowl, but I’ll give Alabama credit for playing one hell of a game.
Thank You Oregon I hate Arizona State.
Oklahoma has given Texas A&M fans another reason to hate Coach Fran.
The ESPN 360 “Fanhood” commercial is hi-lari-ous.
I noticed the commentators for the Boston College-FSU talked in length about NASCAR, I guess they were bored.
Kansas racked up 76 points on 10 straight possessions. That’s OK Callahan just pull a “Fulmer” and stay the course.
Missouri denies Colorado a chance to be bowl eligible with authority.
Don’t let that score of the Georgia game fool you, Troy scored a TD at the last second.
I admit I was pulling for Mike “I’m a man I’m 40!” Gundy’s squad yesterday.
South Florida will go from #10 to unranked.
That was a nice bounce back win for Virginia yesterday.
Clemson is suddenly playing extremely well again.
Indiana is bowl eligible.
This is a drill I repeat this is not a drill, Ole Miss really won a game yesterday.
UCLA started the season ranked, they’ll be lucky if they make to a bowl game.
Michigan State let a victory slip away at home, thus proving they are sucking worse as the year progresses.
Connecticut beats Rutgers and is still undefeated in Big East play, who really gives a damn?
I can’t remember the last time a Steve God Spurrier team lost three in a row. Plus D-Mac rushed for an SEC record breaking amount.
Weis continues to break records at Notre Dame such as ending a 43 win streak against Navy also that loss is the first time the Irish have lost five at home in one season. Suck it Irish I hope Duke wins next week as well.
Since the ESPN commentators were boo hoo’ing over Houston Nutt and all the things that have plagued during the off season, and condemning the banners being flown over the Arkansas stadium I bring you another hi-lari-ous video from Device High.
Let’s look at the SEC East Division. Florida beats Tennessee, South Carolina beats Georgia, Tennessee beat both South Carolina & Georgia & Georgia beats Florida. Florida also has other SEC losses to Auburn & LSU. Make sense yet? I didn’t think so.
Georgia perhaps played their best game of the decade against Florida yesterday.
NC State ruins Virginia’s run.
Coming off the by or is it bye? Either way coming off the bye week Clemson is looking good.
Oregon is perhaps the best team in the country.
Will someone please for the love of God beat Hawaii so they will fall to 60th in polls.
Every time Penn State has a “white out” game at night they lose, anyone else notice that?
Thanks Cal the one time I was pulling for you to win, you don’t. I blame Aberclay.
Kansas is beginning to look legitimate.
The team to beat in the Big Least in Uconn. (snicker)
Notice how the pink shirt defense of Nebraska showed up late and let Texas come back to win? Callahan is a goner.
People at Ole Miss are already starting talking about firing Coach 0. That would be a mistake because I enjoy picking on him and he is only in his third season.
Notre Dame didn’t lose yesterday!!! but then again they didn’t play either.
Watch out ACC Wake Forest is starting to come alive.
Give it up for Colorado they need one more win to be bowl eligible.
Iowa sucks less, Michigan State sucks more.
Finally if anyone is still wanting to fire Coach Croom of Mississippi State see below. He deserves to stay.
This list was compiled and written by Joel. Who soon will have his own posting powers for this blog. So I’m removing the “guest blogger” status.
*Disclaimer: Even though I am from Memphis and am a Tennessee fan, I will attempt to be as unbiased as possible. Every team has a question, and none of this will matter until March comes around anyway…
1. North Carolina- Ty Lawson running the point with Tyler Hansbrough in the middle and Will Graves either starting or coming off the bench should have Carolina rolling. I am a little concerned about their defense and I do wonder if they can ever recover from last year’s Elite 8 loss against Georgetown, but I think Coach Williams will lead them just fine. Should make it to the Final Four, especially if they can find a consistent outside shooter.
2. UCLA- Defense wins championships, and the Bruins play it. It’s ugly, plodding, physical, tough, but very effective. Kinda reminds me of the Baltimore Ravens, without the “assassin” in the middle and the arrogant head coach. The Bruins now have low post scoring with Kevin Love, but he’s a freshman. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes that’s bad. I would have them #1 if they had more low post depth.
3. Memphis- Some pre-season rankings have the Tigers #1, and in many years they probably would, but there are 2 reasons I don’t: scoring and coaching (the last one almost got me banned in barbershops back home). The Tigers, for all of their talent, could play more of a fast breaking style than they do, but they don’t. Why??? Point #2, coaching. Calipari can sometimes be his own worst enemy. I like that he emphasizes defense, but let the players run. You have the horses. Plus, I can think of at least 10 coaches who are better at in game coaching, 2 of whom are Howland and Williams (see above). Great recruiter though (see Derrick Rose). Also, if the city of Memphis can keep Operation “Keep the Tigers Out Of the Clubs” going, it will be a total team effort.
4. Kansas- If it wasn’t for Brandon Rush tearing his ACL, they would be lower. They still might slide if he cannot fully recover, but wit returning starters and Mario Chalmers off the bench (or starting), I still like their chances. Can anyone explain Rock Chalk Jayhawk to me???
5. Georgetown- I think the loss of Jeff Green hurts more than they let on, even if the Hoyas are using the Princceton offense. With Roy Hibbert opting to stay for another year, they should be fine. Plus I do like Vernon Macklin to be the new Jeff Green, if there is such a thing. Also, Georgetown must go into the year as the hunted, so let’s see how John Thompson III coaches this team.
6. Louisville- For the most part, this is a young Louisville team. Next year, they should be at the top. For now, #6. Why this high this year??? A solid front court, a young guard combo, and Rick Pitino’s pressing style of play are the reasons. I am a little worried about games that may turn into a shootout. Will they have the horses to keep up??? Where’s my mint julep???
7. Michigan State- This ranking may be a little high too, but I love Drew Neitzel’s game. He’s a shooter and should easily score 20 a night. Tom Izzo is a top coach and incoming freshman Chris Allen should be a stud. Someone else besides Neitzel needs to score. Who will step up??? One of the best student sections too, btw…
8. Tennessee- This is year 1 A.D. (After Dane), so who’s gonna take on the leadership role??? Oh yeah, Chris Lofton is there…never mind. Tyler Smith should contribute immediately, but someone tell Coach Pearl to keep his shirt on. I’ll take the orange blazer before his man boobs. His chest isn’t Rocky Top, it’s Rocky Flop.
9. Indiana- Though I have never been a Kelvin Sampson fan, he has talent and he can coach. D.J. White and freshman Eric Gordon are gonna be a force in the Big 10. Someone take the cell phone away from Sampson, or at least leave the recruiting to his assistants.
10. Gonzaga- This is conditional on Josh Heytvelt keeping the happy mushrooms out of his pocket and on top of his pizza or favorite pasta dish. There needs to be a German Shepherd at his door and a urine cup in his pocket at all times so he can stay away from trouble. Someone tell him this is college basketball and not “Playmakers”.
Up & Coming Team: Missouri. Mike Anderson and his up tempo style (a disciple of Nolan Richardson and his 40 Minutes of Hell) should make them at the very least an 8th seeded team in the dance. 4 returning starters in year 2 makes for a dangerous combination.
Overrated: Stanford. A season of promise has turned bad now that Brook Lopez decided to do whatever it was he was doing. Obviously, he wasn’t going to class. Now that Mike Montgomery is back as a “special assistant” to the AD (code words for next head coach), Trent Johnson should be looking over his shoulder.
First of all I just want to say this is the best season of college football ever!!! OK, yesterday I was forced to watch football from 3 critical locations.
My couch
The Wild Hare Sports Bar Cafe
My buddy Johns couch.
Some of you might remember me stating in week one that The Fighting Zookers Illini were going to good, do you believe me now? They should be ranked.
What a win for Butch Davis and North Carolina.
The Wisconsin QB is seriously underrated.
Look for Ohio State to jump Cal in the polls.
Way to go K-State. (sarcasm)
The Fighting Zookers Illini have the best running back no one has ever heard of.
I realize the YoJoe and The Gridiron Goddess are mourning this morning after Stanford beat USC at USC, but I did say if Southern Cal continues to make mistakes they would lose. I just didn’t think it would be to Stanford. By the way Gridiron Goddess is rather pissed off right now and I’m frightened.
Alabama needs to learn how to close games out.
While Tennessee’s win over Georgia looks impressive, there are still questions, I’ll go into full details later today.
I give Florida credit for playing hard and leaving it all on the field.
I told you last week that this is the time that Clemson falls apart.
Hi we’re Nebraska football and we suck.
Oh look Iowa lost again, maybe they’ll get a much needed win against Michigan State who lost to North Western (snicker)
Was Tebow crying last night?
I see the Cinderella story of Rutgers is finally dead.
Even though Texas A&M beats America’s coach, Mike “I’m 40 I’m a man!” Gundy’s team, Dennis Franchione will still be fired, I’ll go into details about that later as well.
What a great win for Oklahoma, especially since I hate Texas.
Boston College was just showing off yesterday.
Go Boston Redsox clip the Angels wings!!!
UCLA has to be the worst team in the country to get beaten by Notre Dame, thanks a lot for crushing my dreams of a winless Notre Dame team. Bastards.
The more I hear Lou Holz talk the more he reminds me of Sylvester the Cat. I’m waiting for him to say “Suffering Succotash”.
That’s all for now…look for some important articles coming up soon.
Wow upset Saturday has come and gone. So for fun I’m going rate each upset with a scale going from 1-10. One being not that big of an upset and 10 being holy shit God must hate that team upset.
#5 West Virginia @ #18 South Florida. Upset factor 6. It was a home game and WVU hadn’t played anyone worth a damn all season, plus South Florida just has their number.
#21 Penn State @ Illinois. Upset factor 7. Even though I would have picked Penn State to win this game, if you recall I did mention in Week 1 that the Fighting Zookers Illini were getting better and it will show this season.
#3 Oklahoma @ Colorado. Upset factor 10. In week one I stated that this Buffalo team would be a force in 4 years, but after this game it will be more like 2. Bob Stoops is probably pissed off and shocked right now, so maybe he’s thinking of going somewhere else, like say Tennessee. 🙂
Kansas State @ #7 Texas. Upset factor 5. If it wasn’t for the fact that this was a home game for Texas the factor would have been lower. I’ve been saying all year that Texas is highly overrated, because they have been flirting with disaster all season. This is a good K-State team, they gave Auburn all they could handle earlier this year, plus they beat Texas last year.
#13 Clemson @ Ga. Tech. Upset factor 4. It was home game for Tech, and Clemson always falls apart right about now. Not to mention that Chance was back in the lineup & Tech is a completely different team when he is leading them on the field.
Maryland @ 10 Rutgers. Upset factor 5. Only the fact that this was a road game raises the factor to 5. By all accounts one can make the claim that Maryland could have been 3-1 going into this game. Rutgers hadn’t played a team with a pulse all season. It’s funny everyone was talking about Rutgers being the team the beat in the Big Least, I guess Maryland proved them wrong.
#22 Alabama @ Florida State. Upset factor 1. Alabama had no business being ranked to begin with. Plus was a neutral field in Jacksonville. Which really means 80% of those attending were FSU fans.
Auburn @ #4 Florida. Upset factor 7. I know shocking right? As previously stated in the posting about the game, Turbeville is one of the best road coaches in the country. Turbeville is to Florida as Spurrier is to Tennessee.
Other things I noticed
If USC (the one that wins titles) keeps making mistakes like they did last night, they will not survive their PAC 10 road schedule.
With all due respect to Minnesota, Ohio State & ESPN 2, no one cares about this game!! You could have shown a better game like Georgia & Ole Miss.
Wisconsin incredibility is still the team to beat in the Big Eleven Ten.
Though they lost Michigan State will still have a great season.
Woodson for Heisman! Woodson for Heisman!
Notre Dame is 0-5. They might be able to afford to fire Charlie “the Jabba” Weis, but I’m sure the athletic director of Notre Dame, the same one that fired Willingham, is feeling the noose tighten around his neck.
Oh look Iowa lost again. That’s because they SUCK!
Dave Wannstedt should be calling a moving company right about now.
Washington has some homely looking cheerleaders.
Texas Tech worked out any sexual frustrations they might have had by scoring 75 points.
I see Mike “I’m a man I’m 40!” Gundy’s whipped lowly Sam Houston State.
There could be a QB controversy brewing at Notre Dame.
I received my first injury of this football season by dropping the remote on my foot. Don’t worry I’ll tough it out.
First I would like to apologize for not updating until now. I haven’t felt well all day.
Here are my revelations after yesterdays batch of college football games.
Why is Hawaii even ranked?
Appalachian State beat Michigan, who beat Notre Dame, but Appy State lost to Wofford, so I guess Wofford can beat anyone.
Huge QB controversy for South Carolina, God Spurrier already announced that Mitchell wouldn’t be starting next week. <snicker>
Ole Miss still sucks, but Tennessee suck worse.
Even though Tennessee won yesterday while showing more offense I think Fulmer needs to be replaced. Like Chaz Michael Michaels from “Blade of Glory” said “I’m never satisfied, it’s a curse”.
Oh gee Iowa lost again…go figure.
Notre Dame scored an offensive touchdown!! This is not a drill repeat this is not a drill!
The Third Richt steals a victory in OT at Alabama, God that was sweet. Somewhere Pat Dye is laughing.
Yankees suck!!! Go Boston!!!! I know it isn’t college football related, but it needed to be said.
I think it would he hilarious if Michigan won the Big Eleven Ten
Louisville HAD a 20 game home winning streak broken by Syracuse. The power of the orange lives on.
I bet Joe Pa is pissed after the 9th straight lose to Meechigan.
Kentucky is for real folks.
Are those bags packed yet Houston Nutt?
Georgia Tech you looked good for the first 2 games, what the hell happened?
Auburn welcome back to winning, but you’re still a loser.
I’ve determined Wisconsin plays at the ability of their opponents and not above them.
Michigan State is a dark horse right now.
Oregon can out score Cal.
West Virginia’s first real test of the season come this Friday night.
Texas found their offense again.
Is there a hat that Les Miles can wear without looking like a Catholic Pontiff?
Pitt might be looking for a new football coach along with a new AD after this season.
Nebraska…Ball State…at home…WTF?
Erik Anige continues to have a great year.
Direct TV sucks compared to cable…I’ve never lost reception during a storm with cable.
Cincinnati is 4-0 are they a dark horse?
The road to the ACC title goes through Clemson this year.
If Noel Divine can get spared from getting arrested, he might have a bright future.
What the hell was ESPN’s Mike Patrick thinking? Just watch the video to see what I’m talking about.
