Guess Who Is Lining Up For A #1 Seed???

Sporting a 26-3 record, the Memphis Tigers are poised for a #1 seed. Realistically, this year’s edition of the Tigers is absent of the club hoppers, woman beaters, and scary thugs NBA type talent at every position when compared to last year’s team, but overall, this has been a better team.

Free throw shooting eventually was one of the things that caught up to them last year. Yes, the pain is still there in the hearts of Tiger fans, but this year, the Tigers are shooting almost 70% compared to 61% last year. The 9% difference overallmay not sound like much, but it is the difference between an NCAA Championship Banner hanging in the rafters of plush FedEx Forum instead of drafty and cramped Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Kansas (not that I am biased or still bitter). They are also allowing opponents 7 fewer points this year compared to last.

However, the Tigers still have one problem that reared its ugly head in the losses to Xavier and Syacuse this year, along with the final 3 minutes of last year’s title game: The lack of in-game coaching strategy of John Calipari. Don’t get me wrong, he is an excellent recruiter and can motivate his teams like no other. He is great for a college program. However, as a pure X’s and O’s coach, he has a tendency to get out coached. The talent that he amasses gets him out of a lot of situations. Either way, they should run through the rest of the Tiger High Invitational C-USA Tournament and land a #1 seed.

Then there is this pimp:

pitinox

Rick Pitino and Louisville, who until ESPN gave them a blow job put a spotlight on them, were quietly sneaking up on the competition, setting up a potential showdown in the Big East Tournament against Pitt or UConn. They are loaded and are clearly the best basketball team in the state of Kentucky. They do need to win the Big East to get a #1 seed, but with this team, it is very possible. Earl Clark should be a lottery pick and, wouldn’t it be sweet if the Tigers and Cardinals played for the national title???

Wanna Be An NBA Player??? Here Is NOT Where To Play

Posted by Joel Jackson on June 27, 2008

I finally get some time to put up a post and it just so happens to be right after the 1st round of the NBA Draft . Then something came over me: Our favorite overrated, elitist, ass backwards, and drunken coached team from the SEC didn’t have a player drafted in the 1st round. This makes the second year in a row that a Kentucky player was not drafted in the 1st round, and continues the 11 year streak since a Wildcat player was picked in the lottery.

Oh don’t worry Wildcat fan. I know where to place the blame. It was “10 Loss” Tubby’s fault. He was too busy making sure he ran a clean program, free of racism (unlike the arena named after the “great” Rupp), and made sure that he didn’t hit the Wild Turkey bottle and try to drive home from the bar. He just simply didn’t have time to recruit players who would be developed into NBA talent.

Leave it to Billy Clyde Gilispie to recruit like a mother. He has already scored top 10 talent of all ages. He will take Kentucky back to single digit losses in just a few short years, as soon as his 8th grade recruits start arriving to Lexington. Too bad he said he was gonna stop recruiting young kids. Rumor is that he had planned to recruit Chicago next week while school is out for the summer. R. Kelly was gonna show him where all the hot spots were to get top talent, before Mr. Kelly got some talent of his own. Of course, knowing Billy Clyde’s track record, he’ll be gone quicker than you can say “Nick Saban”. It’s all good anyway, the best coach in the state left you back in the 90’s and now coaches your in-state rival.

So, for all of the Derrick Jasper’s, Scotty Hopson’s, and (insert latest player’s name to leave the Kentucky program here) of the world, things will be ok. You will make it to the NBA Draft Lottery, because you never put on the Wildcat uniform.

Let’s hear Tim Brando spin another year of Kentucky mediocrity…

Cardinals v. Wildcats Will Play When Exactly???

Posted by Joel Jackson on March 11, 2008

607px-2001_ky_proof.png

Apparently, in the “Bluegrass State”, there is a pissing match brewing (as usual) between the Louisville Cardinals v. Kentucky Wildcats. The argument this time??? What day of Labor Day weekend the annual football game will be played on. Louisville wants to play the game on Monday night, Sept. 1. Kentucky wants to play the game sometime between Thursday, Aug. 28 to Aug. 31. ESPN would like to televise the game on Monday to take advantage of the usualMonday night Football slot (the NFL season won’t start until the following week). Kentucky’s reason for wanting the game at an earlier date: They want recovery time so that they can prepare for…NORFOLK STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here’s a quote from Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart:

“We’re willing to play that game Thursday through Sunday, and we’ve communicated that to the people at ESPN,” Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart told the Courier-Journal. “We’re not going to play that on a Monday night and give ourselves that short turnaround on a Saturday game. We’re going to have a young team, and we feel it’s in the best interest of our program to guard that prep time and that recovery time.”

Now keep in mind he is complaining about resting for Norfolk State. Not Ohio State, Florida State, Arizona State, Oregon State, or Michigan State. He is talking about Norfolk State, an HBCU, D-1AA program. Yes I know Appalachian State beat Michigan last year, but Appy State has been a dominant team in D-1AA (yes I still refuse to call it Football Championship Series). This is Norfolk State we are talking about. If Kentucky can’t man up on 5 days rest to beat Norfolk State, then they will be screwed for the upcoming SEC slate. Of course, they just might be screwed anyway, considering Andre Woodson and Wesley Woodward aren’t there anymore.

At the end of the day, this is gonna be a battle of mediocre teams, and whatever ESPN wants, ESPN gets. If they wanted this game played a day before Kentucky plays the “mighty” Norfolk State Spartans, it will happen. Money talks, and ESPN has billions of Disney Dollars. So Kentucky, give it up. Play the game on Monday night, have a light practice week, and roll up Norfolk State on that Saturday. One or two extra days to rest up against a D-1AA opponent is not gonna make a difference when you are gonna have the second string in by half time anyway. Oh, and can someone from Kentucky please explain this???

Fulmer’s Biggest Choice

Posted by Joel Jackson on December 19, 2007

Phillip Fulmer, embattled captain of the good ship Volunteer, is currently looking for a new Offensive Coordinator. Former Offensive Coordinator David Cutcliffe decided to commit seppeku by accepting the head coaching gig at Duke. Now I am not about to get into what in the world would possess a man to take a coach killer fine opportunity to coach FOOTBALL at Duke, but rather look at some of the candidates and offer up one or two “off the radar” people.

taylor-105.jpg Trooper Taylor-Currently, he is the Receivers Coach for Tennessee and also Recruiting Coordinator. He is primarily responsible for a vast majority of the 4 and 5 star recruits that Tennessee has gotten over the years (the same recruits that Fulmer doesn’t play until their junior year, but I digress). Honestly, will he run the same ol tired “pro-style” offense that Tennessee fans have grown to know and love, or will he add some wrinkles to the equation??? Also, he has been recently been offered the OC job by new Baylor coach Art Briles, but the problem is (and unfortunately I had to witness by living here in Houston) that Briles pretty much runs the offense, a la Steve Spurrier (or Les Miles). Will he stay with the program that has stuck by him??? Or will the program really even want him???

ftb-bio-adkins-150.jpg Greg Adkins-Offensive Line Coach, Tennessee. This guy is the one responsible for Tennessee’s O-Line, the same line that kept Erik Ainge off his back all year. The O-Line has, in my opinion, the best unit on Tennessee’s team the past few years. Like Taylor, what kind of offense would he run??? He has to my knowledge ever called a play on offense, but neither has Taylor, unless you count either one begging for the same ol’ tired reverse with the pass option.

The Revelations After a Saturdays Worth of Football Week 3

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 16, 2007

Yesterday was a bad day & it will show in this post, but here are my revelations, after being forced against my will, of watching football yesterday.

A band of one legged midgets could rush for 300 yards against Tennessee’s defense.

Mississippi State has a lot of young talent.

Even though Tommy Tuberville voiced his opinion that Croom shouldn’t be fired after this season (I agree with with him), you have to wonder if he would have voiced it knowing he was going to lose at home against him.

Iowa sucks.

Ole Miss still sucks

Nebraska wasn’t ready for USC, I know the Gridiron Goddess is happy.

Nick Satan Saban looks like an arrogant fuck on the sidelines.

Just how good is Matt Ryan?

Kentucky is a blue state, the Big East winning streak against the SEC has been snapped.

Texas is highly overrated.

Welcome back to losers’ville UCLA we’ve missed you.

From what I saw the Nebraska cheerleaders were U-G-L-Y they ain’t got no alibi they ugly, they ugly.

New Hampshire beat Marshall what does that say about the Big East?

Just how red and sunburned can George O’Leary get?

As always the SEC officials suck.

I hate my cable company because they took ESPN Classic off the air, so I couldn’t watch the Kentucky-Louisville game.

The more I hear him speak, the more my distain for Lou’ser Holtz grows.

Duke is now allowed to leave losers’ville, Notre Dame enters.

Oklahoma continues to dominate.

Oregon is scary good.

Wisconsin’s defense is like Tennessee’s nonexistent.

Will Rutgers ever play a team with a pulse?

Washington isn’t there yet and WTF is up with having the word “Dawgs” on the front of the helmets? The only Dawgs are Georgia. You’re the Huskies.

Houston Nutt are you packing your bags yet?

So I profess on this day 9/16/07.

The Revelations After a Saturdays Worth of Football Week 2

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 9, 2007

Here are my revelations from yesterday, as I suffered being a couch slave.

The Big East teams have no defense.

Virginia won Loser Bowl part 1, Notre Dame and Meechigan square off for Loser Bowl part deux next week.

If Marshall had something called depth, West Virginia would have lost.

Neither Georgia or South Carolina looked like they were playing to their full potential, they both looked sloppy.

The Big Eleven Ten sucks. Case in point Michigan, Ohio State should have rolled, Wisconsin was disappointing. Penn State didn’t look great.

I don’t believe Anthony Morelli is has good people seem to think he is.

From the comments Lloyd Carr made yesterday, I think he’s given up.

Mike Hart of Meechigan is stud running back who embodies what college athletics is all about.

It’s a toss up between “Cavemen” and “Carpoolers”, as to which show will be canceled first.

Bob Davie is the worst commentator ever.

LSU = Domination.

Auburn sucks

I don’t see how USC will go undefeated in PAC-10 this year. Sorry Gridiron Goddess.

Tennessee took a step in the right direction.

Freddy Brown of South Carolina took a cheap shot and clipped a Georgia player, there were three personal fouls commented by So. Carolina, like I’ve been preaching, lack of discipline off the field, shows on the field.

Mark Richt looked pissed after the game last night.

Texas didn’t beat TCU, TCU beat themselves, and I’m not sold on Texas’s offense.

Oklahoma continues to shine.

Nebraska was clearly looking ahead to playing USC next week.

Someone show some love to Tyrone Willingham and the Washington Huskies.

I’m not sure if Oregon is scary good, or Michigan is scary bad.

With the exception of Georgia Tech, the ACC sucks and is college footballs worst conference.

Like I said last week America’s team Virginia Tech was overrated (clap clap clapclap ), I just didn’t realize by how much.

If I see another flipping “Olive Garden” commercial, I’ll never eat there again.

Speaking of the “Tragedy Bowl of 2007” featuring LSU & Virginia Tech, was tragically boring.

I’m willing to bet that West Virginia & Louisville falls in the polls due to no defense.

Teams that still have questions because they are still playing weak cupcakes or pathetic teams in general are:

Florida, West Virginia, Louisville, Rutgers, Alabama, UCLA, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh, Kentucky & Maryland.

The Revelations After a Saturdays Worth of Football Week 1.

Posted by Thomas the Terrible on September 3, 2007

Well, college football is finally here and I spend Saturday going though the hell of having to watch football all day and night. (note the sarcasm cause I’m laying it on pretty thick) Here are just some observations I have.

America’s team Virginia Tech & Texas are overrated (clap clap clapclap)

Underrated the East Carolina defense, Georgia Tech & Nebraska.

Even though they didn’t win the Fighting Zookers Illini are doing better thanks to their coach.

The “unstoppable” offense of Oklahoma State was easily stopped by Georgia.

South Carolina struggled which is a sign of things to come.

Right now Oklahoma looks to be the team to beat not Southern Cal. Sorry Gridiron Goddess.

Philip Fulmer is on the hot seat.

The new Medal of Honor game looks sweeeettttt

Anyone besides me notice Chris Moneymaker the 2003 WSOP champion (yes that’s his real name) in the stands at the Tennessee-Hippie Land Cal game?

Offensively West (soft schedule, no title, no mas) Virginia looks good but no defene to speak of.

Lloyd Carr could wind up at Virginia after they dropped a game to Wyoming.

Boston College put Wake Forest back into the realm of reality.

Wisconsin is the team to beat in the Big Eleven Ten.

Cox of Auburn did not look like a veterian QB at all.

Kentucky can score…damn.

Tiger Woods as over taken Peyton Manning in the “in every TV commercial” department

Ed Orgeron is still bat shit crazy.

Colorado looks better this year, in fours years they’ll dominate.

Teams that still have questions because they played cupcakes are:

Florida, Louisville, Rutgers, Ohio State, Penn State, Arkansas, Texas A&M & of course liar Saban’s Alabama squad.

So I profess on this day 9/3/07.
